Would you like to work for a large firm or a small business? Deciding whether to choose a large organization or a small organization will be an important decision for everyone working in the job field. On personal upfront, I would like to join the large organization because of several factors such as – • Big companies are more stable as compared to small organizations. As the big company has greater access to capital that is needed for investments, this provides more job security and stability. On the other hand, small businesses tend to be less stable, especially if the company is a startup. • Big companies have more job opportunities within them which enhance the career growth of the employee (Hill, 2021). In big business, managers will have specific and narrow roles. On the other hand, in a small business manager will act like a machine handling many small tasks at the same time. One benefit of handling a specific role is that manager will become an expert in his/her role over the period. While larger firms offer more chances of learning, the growth may be slower as compared to a smaller firm. Job security in a large organization is very high. Also, large businesses offer more benefits as compared to small businesses. (Ravenscraft, 2013) Would you like to work for a Private or Public? In Private business, the organization structure would be smaller as compared to public business. The decision in the private business would be in the hands of company promoters/ employees, whereas in a public company the decision-making power is with all the stakeholders. I would like to work with a public organization due to various factors such as career growth, greater job security, and higher perks & benefit in terms of compensation. Along with this public organization is a good structure in such a way, that every employee has a better work-life balance as compared to private businesses. (Savy, n.d.)There are some benefits that are available in the private sector, such there is the flexibility of doing the work your way in a large organization the work is done by following proper standards of procedure. The private companies are paying more than the public companies in terms of compensation and salary. But considering the benefit of both the sector, I would like to go with working with the public sector considering the long-term career. (Quirk, n.d.) Would you like to work in an office or out in the field? An office is a place where business administrative work is performed. Whether it is a small company or a large company, each company will have its proper designated physical place known as an office. This depends on the type of job a person is doing.I would prefer a job that provides me with both options, working from the office and if required then visiting the client’s place/ onsite for project completion. Working from the office has overall more benefits such as – • While working from the office you save a lot of traveling time, which could be utilized to complete the relevant work. (Reddy, n.d.) • In the office there are fixed working hours /lunch times /tea breaks, due to this schedule, an employee’s mind automatically starts working in the same way and follows time management. Working with your colleagues and staff gives a feeling of motivation to concentrate on work.
