Learning the Grammar of Animacy:

This text was quite interesting. It explored an area which is generally not talked about, especially in the academic domain. At times, we continue to dwell on grammatical aspects, to rightly characterize beings with respect to grammar rules, however in this process, we forget the importance of being clearer, being able to explain better. For me, it allowed me to look at some of my own experiences with grammar. I have always wondered why we don’t add examples which are helpful in explaining the context properly. An example about the soup having gray hair from the given text showcased how we misses to relive our finest moments; it also showcases how language and grammar rules have robbed us of more personal moments. My own experiences with grammar have been on similar lines where I always wondered why the pronounce it is being used to describe a lot of things as if we are not respecting their existence.(Kimmerer,4)

This text also reinforced my personal belief of using language as a way to communicate but not as a way to judge something right or wrong. This text raises a couple of important questions for me, first, whether we as human beings have reduced language to rules and not to actual emotions? And the second question is, whether being more open to different ways of expressing the same thing helps us become more inclusive?

This text has given me certain new ideas to be more carefree in my ways of communication. The idea should be to express something freely and not worry about the aspects which are not important at all as small details do not make a difference if we have an idea to change something.
