Review the current engineering environment, and summarise the typical financial metrics of a company (that is: describe or illustrate the relationship between sales and costs, the different types of costs, and how these result in both operating and net profit). [LO1.1] 2. Describe what external factors can affect the company, with specific views on potential social, environmental, and economic factors. [LO1.2] 3. Outline the differences between the MDs legal responsibilities and corporate social responsibilities and give the MD relevant examples of each, given the area of business for this company. [LO1.3] 4. Give the company MD a brief overview of TQM, including what it means, and suggest to the MD what tools they can use to increase quality in areas of Customer, People, Process, and Continuous Improvement. [LO1.4] 5. In order to secure the future of the company, describe to the MD different methods of innovation, and what that might mean to the short term cash flow of the company. [LO1.5]
