Part 1: The Cement Truck

In this part of the show you know assignment, you will explore questions related to the cement truck shown

below. Particularly, you will explore the drum of the truck (where all of the cement is located). In the picture

below, note how the top of the drum is outlined with 3 line segments. When represented appropriately, these

three line segments could be rotated about the x-axis to produce a 3-D representation of the drum.

1. Using appropriate units, find the volume of the drum of this cement truck. Show you

know what you are doing by showing clearly "what does a slice look like?" What

information does this provide? Check Google to see how close your result is to the actual

volume of a cement truck drum. You will need to make reasonable estimates for the any

measurements needed to address this situation. Explain how you decided upon these

measurements.

2. Suppose that the density of cement is 5258.91b/yd³. What is the weight of a full drum of

cement? I recognize that they probably don't ever completely fill a drum with

cement...but if they did...
