Question

Physical Neighborhood Essay

Choose Brockton MA, USA

WRITE: Each neighborhood in Boston looks different from others. When you come to school each

day, you see that the South End is made up of a lot of brick buildings and not a lot of trees, whereas

a neighborhood like Dorchester may have a lot of triple-deckers and a bit more greenery. Each

neighborhood has its own physical details.

For this assignment, you will be describing the physical details of your neighborhood. This will

include boundaries, terrain, parks, housing, and other physical details like how the neighborhood

sounds and smells. For this assignment, you are going to be relying on your own senses as you walk

around your neighborhood, taking notes and photographs to capture the present.

Think of this like a travel guidebook: We aren't looking to cover every single detail of what makes

up your neighborhood, but the key ones that will help us understand what the neighborhood is like

so that if an outsider were to visit after having read your paper, they will feel like they've already

been there.

This essay should run two pages long and contain at least five

researched details.
