It will help prepare them for their career by showcasing academic, industry, and professional competencies and goals. Objectives · To help students investigate the different aspects of their field and thus develop a better understanding of the nature of their majors early in their course of study · To help students become aware of the different challenges and opportunities they may encounter before and after they graduate · To help students become seriously involved in developing the professional skills that can help them become competitive and thus successful in their future career · To help students identify specific career paths within industries related to their major . To help students understand the career ladder of their career choice and the requirements needed to progress from one level to the next until they achieve their desired position · To help students conduct simple research to collect data that addresses important issues relevant to their field · To get students involved in preparing and giving an effective, informative PowerPoint presentation that meets predetermined criteria Instructional Media: Tools and Resources The instructor will use the following technology and media: 1. Blackboard 2. PowerPoint Students will need to explore online articles, reports, and different resources to assist them in understanding the different organizational structures of companies, ethics, demands and opportunities, hiring criteria, and occupations within their industry. Minimum Requirements PowerPoint Presentation: 1. See the RUBRIC for Minimum Requirements for the PPT and Presentation 2. Minimum of 7 minutes per presenter 3. 17 slides minimum 4. Prepare attractive slides that add to your presentation 5. Explain each key point on all of your slides 6. DO NOT cut and paste your report into your slides 7. ONLY Original Work will be accepted 8. Due to large class sizes, students must stick to the schedule or forfeit their scheduled presentation and lose 50% of their total grade. Submission Criteria 1. Submit a Soft Copy to Blackboard the day before the student's scheduled presentation. If the PPT is not submitted ahead of time, the student will not present as per the schedule and will be deducted 50% of the total grade.
