Prior to 2010, standard licence plates in Alberta consisted of 3 letters followed by 3 digits, and standardOntario licence plates consisted of 4 letters followed by 3 digits. Letters and digits can be repeated onlicence plates. There are 23 letters in the alphabet that can be used, as the letters I, O, and Q are notallowed. All of the digits from 0 to 9 may be used. An example of each licence plate is shown below.
