Probability Distribution Functions for Coin Tossing and Spinning: In class, I mentioned the coin tossing experiments of Persi Daiconis, a statistician in the mathematics department at Stanford. In his published report on this, his coin spinning data from UC Berkeley students is rather suspect. Regardless, we will use a variation of the reported data for a problem. The two plots below show statistics for "% Heads" outcomes from 100 US penny coin spinning or coin tossing trials. Any % Heads values not shown (80%, 85%, etc.) are 0 and truncated to save visual space.

a) Convert the sets of coin spinning and coin tossing data into probability distribution functions and calculate the average % Heads for both spinning and tossing of coins. b) Calculate the variance, o?, of both the coin spinning and coin tossing distributions. c) Calculate the skewness of both the coin spinning and coin tossing distributions. d) Please compare your coin spinning and coin tossing distributions given your findings in parts b) and c)in 2 sentences or less. Am I right to be concerned about the coin spinning data, or am I simply being alarmist?
