shown in Fig. P 1.8. The flow field is assumed to be steady.

a) Write the complete mass, momentum, and energy conservation equations, as well as all the

relevant boundary conditions for all the surfaces.

Repeat Part a assuming that the fluid is inviscid.

c)

If we assume that the flow field is axi-symmetric, what changes would be needed in the

equations and the boundary conditions?

d) Suppose at a high U turbulence sets in near the rear of the object. Do the equations you

proposed earlier apply?

Hint: Use polar cylindrical coordinates.
