Question

Problem 1 : Consider a thin-walled tube of 10-mm diameter and 2-m length. Water enters the tube from a large reservoir at m= 0.2 kg/s and Tm,i = 47°C.

(a) If the tube surface is maintained at a uniform temperature of 27°C, what is the outlet temperature of the water, Tm,o? If needed use the properties of water given below and assume that these properties are temperature independent. Also, assume fully developed flow when needed.(b) What is the exit temperature of the water if it is exposed to uniform external air temperature of To=100°C? The outside convection heat transfer coefficient of air is 107 W/(m².K). If needed use the properties of water given below and assume that these properties are temperature independent. Also, assume fully developed flow when needed.
