Two forces P₁ and P2, with a magnitude of P₁ = 15 kN and P₂ = 18 kN, and a torque (T = 1800 N. m)

are applied to the structure shown in Figure 2. The radius of member BD is 20 mm. Knowing that the

distance from A to the axis of member BD is a = 50 mm, determine (a) the normal and shear stresses

at point H of the section of member BD located at a distance b = 60 mm from the free end, (b) the

principal stresses and the maximum shear stress at point H.
