Project 2 SolidWorks Spring 2024 For all problems, use SolidWorks. Upload the file. Generate a separate pdf with the solutions and upload it as a report. The project report should have all the parts and outputs associated with it. You should also put some analysis, explanation, and then put it in your report. Please do not collaborate with each other. Use of internet is permitted. Cardiovascular Stent Project: Coronary arteries deliver oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle. Over time, plaque can build up in your coronary arteries and limit blood flow. This is known as coronary heart disease (CHD). It can damage the heart muscle and have the potential to increase the risk of having a heart attack. A cardiac stent is used to treat narrowed or blocked coronary arteries. It can also be used to improve blood flow immediately following a heart attack. Cardiac stents are expandable coils made of metal mesh. Doctors can insert one during a coronary angioplasty, a nonsurgical and minimally invasive procedure. The device is designed to support artery walls, keep artery open, and improve blood flow to the heart. 1| Page A B MAYO FOUNDATION FOR MEDICAL EDUCATION AND RESEARCH. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. When placing a coronary artery stent, a health care provider will find the blocked heart artery (A). A balloon on the tip of a flexible tube (catheter) is inflated. It widens the blocked artery. Then a metal mesh stent is placed (B). The stent holds the artery open so blood moves through (C). 2| Page **Suppose you are a Research and Development engineer, and your company wants you to design a cardiovascular stent in SolidWorks. (i) Designing the Part in SolidWorks Design a SolidWorks part that will be used as a cardiovascular stent. The image of the part, and the drawing is given below. The diameter of the pipe is 3 mm, and the pitch of the helix is 16 mm. The material is stainless steel (AISI Type 316L). 3| Page о (ii) Analysis of the Stent (Simulation) Now your team wants to explore different materials to see if it can improve the performance of the stent. The materials they want to test are Ti-6Al-4V (Titanium Alloy), and Nitinol. The titanium alloy is defined in the SolidWorks library, and the property of Nitinol is given below. 4| Page Material Search... > SOLIDWORKS DIN Materials Tables & Curves Appearance CrossHatch Custom Application Data Favorites Sheet Metal Material properties Materials in the default library can not be edited.
