PROPOSAL FOR GROUP-BASED INTERVENTION

I. IDENTIFIED POPULATION (10%)
An overview of the identified population and the concern you are planning to address.
Include the typical developmental milestones of the age group, their typical occupations, and
the typical settings in which they carry out those occupations.
II. LITERATURE SEARCH (20%)
Conduct a literature search (research or evidence-based practice) to find a specific focus
related to the population and the topic of concern. Include at least one unique reference.*
Cite the findings and the primary points that validate the concern and provide direction to
your group-based intervention. Include relevant data and statistics. (See instructions below
regarding acceptable source material for the research.)
III. SPECIFIC FOCUS (25% total for Section III)
A. Population: Based on your literature search, define the population and concern more
narrowly and specifically. Include demographics such as age; gender; general state of health
(and/or major diagnoses if present); and any additional pertinent information. (12.5%)
B. Setting: Describe more specifically the natural, expected environment in which the identified
population must ultimately function (e.g, school, home, neighborhood, community, etc.).
(This is not the setting for the group intervention; that will be described in the group
protocol.) (12.5%)
IV. PROPOSAL FOR GROUP (40% total for Section III)
A. Describe in general terms the group-based intervention you recommend. This will be a group
intervention that you design, and that you could theoretically carry out with your current skill
set.* Include the group's overall purpose and the rationale, as a general description. Include
whether this group will be a single session, a limited series, or an ongoing group, and justify
your choices. (You will describe the specific details and goals of your group program/
intervention in the Group Protocol. See below for details.) (25%)
B. Describe why this group intervention would be appropriate for the setting and occupational
performance needs of the identified population. Discuss the occupational value your
intervention will bring to the identified population as compared with no intervention. (15%)
V. OVERALL WRITING (5%)
Structure, adherence to the rubric, clarity of writing, use of APA style, spelling, grammar,
and adherence to word count. (5%) You must use and cite a minimum of one reference in Section II, from one or more of the
following sources:

from Wikipedia are not acceptable.
Page numbers are required in your citation and reference; you cannot simply cite an
entire book or article. Reference citations are not included in the word count.
