Question

Purpose

This assignment will help you think more about professional communication, especially

about writing to international audiences. It will also further develop the research and

evaluation skills you've been building in previous projects.

Format

Read the file "Letter for Project 1" posted on Canvas. Then, in a memo addressed to

me, assess the letter's problem areas, including organizational strategies, persuasive

strategies, and levels of formality, as well as English usage, phrasing, and idioms that

may be difficult for an English as a Second Language (ESL) reader. In other words,

what general and specific elements of the letter would you change for an Indian

business audience?

Cite information gained from outside sources both in text and at the end of the memo in

a bibliography using MLA format. Failure to do so constitutes plagiarism.

Your analysis should be approximately 500 words in length.

Following that section, attach a revised version of the letter as an additional page in

your paper. Do not save your revised letter as a separate file, or you will not be able to

upload it to Canvas successfully.

Feel free to change as much or as little as you think necessary, but do not change the

basic scenario laid out in the letter of a frustrated business owner contacting a supplier

about a damaged order.

In your revision of the letter, make sure to consider organizational strategies, persuasive

strategies, and forms of courtesy, as well as English usage, phrasing, and idioms that

may be difficult for an ESL reader.
