Question 2

0.4 pts

A metal plate strikes a piece of impact absorbing foam at 11.7m/s.

The foam causes a non-linear deceleration with a magnitude of

a=99.0*t where a is the magnitude of the acceleration in m/s^2

and t is in s. What time does it take for the plate to compress the

foam before it stops? Answer in s, do not include a sign.

Hint: The constant accel equations do not work for this, don't try it.

You have to setup and evaluate integrals using the definitions of a, v

and s we covered in class.
