Question

Question 2 (50 marks)

This question relates to your GDIP project. Your responses should make specific reference

to the project, rather than providing generic information without context-specific

interpretation.

a. Considering the system you worked on in GDIP, which aspect do you think presents

the greatest risk of 'reverse engineering' by competitors? Justify your choice. What

form do you think the reverse engineering activity would take? Name two ways it

could be discouraged or prevented, with specific reference to your system.

[11 marks]

b. Walk through a single iteration of a HAZOP examination for your GDIP system, i.e.

use the HAZOP approach to construct and evaluate a description of one potential

hazard related to your system. Briefly (one sentence) explain each step in the

process with specific reference to your example.

[10 marks]

c. Compare HAZOP with one other risk analysis technique by giving one advantage

and one disadvantage of each. Explain which of these you used (or, in hindsight,

would have used) in your GDIP project and why.

[8 marks]

a. Describe three forms of project documentation (excluding the report) that you

personally contributed to in some form during your GDIP project. Your answer

should describe the intended benefit of each documentation type, how you

contributed to it, and how others used it. In the unlikely case that you did not

contribute to three forms of documentation, you may describe documents that you

would contribute to if you were repeating the project.
