Question

Question 4: A solution of potassium chromate (K₂CrO4) is to be used to produce K₂CrO4 crystals.

The feed to an evaporator is 2.50x10³ kilograms per hour of 40.0 percent solution by mass. The

stream leaving the evaporator is 50.0 percent K₂CrO4. This stream is then fed into a crystallizer

and is passes through a filter. The resulting filter cake is entirely crystals. The remaining solution

if 45.0 percent K:CrO4 and is recycled. Calculate the total input to the evaporator, the feed rate to

the crystallizer, the water removed from the evaporator, and the amount of pure produced each

hour. (25 Points)
