Question

SPECIFICATION OF REQUIREMENTS (SOR):

Choose one team member as a project manager.

The power supply requirements will be based on the nine digits of the project manager's student

ID before the forward slash: xxxABCDxx/x. A, B, C and D are digits (0-9).

Req 3:

Req 4:

Req 5:

Req 6:

The required output DC voltage:

Voreq = (. )/2 + 4 volts = 2 A.B + 4 volts

The required maximum DC output current:

loreq = ( ) *10/2 + 50 mA = 5*CD + 50 mA

Group mini-project

For example, if the student id is 123456789/1 then your specification would be:

Output voltage = 4.5/2 + 4 = 6.25V

Output current = 67*5 + 50 = 385 mA

Vo should be within 10% of Vorea at loreq under all conditions.

Load regulation should be less than 5%.

Testing of the supply shall be conducted at lore and lored/10 by using two resistor

values:

Rminload = Voreg / long

Rmaxload = Vareq / (lareq / 10) = Rminload *10

These values should be used in simulation. For the practical circuit, if Rminload

is not an available value in the lab, then the next available value above Rminload

should be used. If this is the case then Rmaxload will be ten times the Rminload

value used for practical testing.

Line regulation, i.e. fluctuations of the rail voltage at Rminload, due to the feed-

through of the ripple voltage, shall be <0.5%.

Voltage regulation, the modulus of the difference in output voltage between the

Rmaxload and the Rminload values, compared to Voreq, shall be <2%.

Throughout the design, you must take care of the power ratings of all the components. This will have

implications for your design and component choice.
