As far as my professional career is concerned, I believe I would choose the role of Data Analyst. I
would like to get into the Clinical Applications Analyst for EPIC. My background is in radiology,
and I currently work with the EPIC Radiant EHR. One would typically work in clinical settings such
as healthcare organizations and would also perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and
optimization of existing software applications. Having good analytical skills, technical skills,
communication skills, and creativity are personality traits that would help within this role. I believe
learning sql language will greatly help me to attain my goal professionally. This class has helped
me to broaden my analytical skills and my attention to detail. One must pay close attention to the
commands they are using in sql language to make sure the commands are correctly
entered. Using the Codio testing environment and the reference manual helped me greatly with
this course. I used the reference manual several times throughout this course when commands
wouldn't work to try to figure out what I was missing. Although it was not easy, I feel I learned a lot
in this class. Good luck all.

8-1 Discussion: Database Professional Roles
Steven Clingler
If I were to pick a job that works with databases, I would probably choose data analytics. Trying to
find information and patterns by running queries in the database doesn't sound like a bad job to
have. A person in this field would need to be attentive, calculative and focused to sit and run
queries all day and formulate reports. I am looking forward to having a future as a network administrator. This role will likely not require a
lot of work with databases as that usually falls under the jurisdiction of a database administrator.
However, an understanding of databases is still useful knowledge to have no matter what field of
IT you are going into. Understanding how to run commands in SQL is also useful even for an
network administrator because that can actually be used when checking networking issues
through command prompts. I would like to think that I will still at least use SQL in my future in
networking and hopefully the knowledge I have learned in this class will be put to good use.
