SIE 383 - Spring 2023 Lab 2 SolidWorks Drawings • • This is an individual assignment. You must complete the written prompt and create the SolidWorks drawing on your own. We will be checking for plagiarism. If you have questions, you can email the TA There are two parts to this assignment. You will upload 2 files to the D2L submission box. Part 1. Create the drawing shown on the next page in SolidWorks. This is a bracket that will be used to fix to different parts together—it will be bolted to a stationary part using the holes, and another part will interface with it using the slanted feature. You do not need to create the part from scratch-you can download the part from D2L. If you would like more practice with SolidWorks, please feel free to create the part yourself. If you create the part, please think about where to start to ensure that your part is oriented as shown in the isometric view below. Export the drawing as a PDF and upload to D2L. Your drawing should have the same dimensions and views as shown below. It should use A4 sheet size. Be sure to enter your name (first initial and last name) in the “Drawn” section of the title block, and enter the title block tolerances as shown. Part 2. Write one paragraph answering the following prompt. Imagine that your supervisor wants to know if your company should switch to GD&T instead of using the title block plus- minus tolerancing for this drawing. What is your recommendation? Give some pros and cons of both approaches and be sure to discuss part functionality and economic factors in your response. Upload your response in a Word document or PDF to D2L. 6 D R37.50 5 150.00 65.00 7.50 C 2X 30.00 - 50.00 B A 6 5 UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED: DIMENSIONS ARE IN MILLIMETERS TOLERANCES: .X .XX +/- .75 +/- .25 FINISH: 15.00 NAME SIGNATURE DATE DRAWN H.
