If you have difficulty locating a movie, contact me for help. • After watching the approved movie, write and send a review of the well-developed movie. In a minimum of 2 typed pages, include the following in your review: O What disability(s) was examined, portrayed or presented? What are the "distinctive features" (what a note that is exclusive to this disability) of the disability? Identify at least 4 characteristics. O How did the film characterize the impact of the character or characters with this disability on their family, their relationships and/or their community? O How did the film characterize the community/social vision of this disability or group? O What are the "fights" or challenges represented? O What did you learn about this disability or group or the associated attitudes regarding the disability or group that you did not know previously? O Reflect on your own thoughts about the movie. What are your impressions, changes of attitude and/or new perspectives that are the result of watching this movie? Part 2. Using the disability that was characterized in the film you reviewed (if more than one disability group is represented, choose only one), prepare a research project that summarizes the following: • Nature of the disability, including the characteristics, identity signs and characteristics of the disability • Prevalence, diagnostic measures and cause/etiology to include: How is it diagnosed or identified? Cite specific tests, evaluations, checklists, observation tools. • Inform how the classroom teacher or the specialist will participate in this diagnostic process. Identify the professionals/specialists who can provide services to the person and what their role will be in the provision of services, education or treatment. • Provide 5 recommendations for adaptations, treatment, teaching approaches and/or educational considerations, providing the justification of each one. • List a minimum of 4 informative references, websites or books that could be used as a reference by teachers, human service workers or parents as complementary information about disability. All information must be cited; citations and references must use MLA or APA formats.
