Question

This is my instructor command and the assignment need to be revise according to the

command:

Samim, I find your organization interesting. You are using paper headings that we have

not discussed and that are more typically used in the academic writing of Social Sciences

and STEM fields. Have you actually conducted a review of the literature on this topic? A

literature review usually covers a fairly extensive and broad range of articles and

research on the topic, and it is used to establish a question/problem that has not yet

been completely answered and to acknowledge the valuable work already done on the

topic to which the paper will add. A Discussion of Findings typically presents the data or

results of an original research projects: such as if you had followed a group of ELL

learners through their classes and studied their experiences. I am not opposed to these

headings in general, but I am concerned that they do not reflect your research process

and are a misfit to what your paper actually is. In short these are headings used in a

paper that presents the results of an original research project. I'm fairly certain that's not

what you have done and so a different organizational structure is going to necessary for

your paper. The paper you have planned also continues to be very practical: how to

teach ELL students academic writing. This indicated in your writing about your sources

offering tips and advice. Try to refocus on a more conceptual question: Why are these

strategies good ones? What are the barriers to their use? What are the underlying

assumptions behind these practices: that ELL students needs more time and practice?

that they need environments more focused on their particular challenges where the

teachers can give them more attention and feedback? do they need feedback that is

different than the kind of feedback teachers might give native speakers? In other words,

dig a little deeper to what's underneath that practical tips. Frankly, it's easy to say that

they should write more and get more feedback. Many people would even say those are

obvious answers to the question, but the more interesting are of discussion is perhaps

why that may not be happening to the extent that it is needed.
