Good afternoon, Professor, and classmates. Happy week one. In
Entwistle text the difference between Christian and secular thinking is
Open course indexly outlined, highlighting the subtle way that people approach
amerent parts of life. This examination leads us to look at how well,
and how poorly can be inside of Christian and secular framework.
Using my own personal experience, we take a dive into Christian
thinking performed well Christian thinking that was not expressed in
the best way. Partnered uinwith secular thinking in the same light.
When it comes to the thought process of a Christian and the
executed properly, it can express deepness and genuineness, it can
promote an integrated world view that combines faith with reason
and compassion. I had a personal experience with someone that
exuded the Christian principle of forgiveness, even when they were
faced with wrongdoing of others, they showed exactly how powerful
grace can be. This behavior in my opinion shows strength it also

methodology, and the quest of knowledge for the betterment of
humanity. To give an example would be advancement in medical
research. Scientists use experimental evidence to develop life-saving
treatment. This is an example that showcases the strength of secular
Open course indexing because its goal is a step forward in the common good of
society.
Just like in Christian thinking secular thinking can be poorly done. In
some cases secular thinking can become very reductionist and can
dismiss spirituality and morals. An example of secular thinking being
done poorly is when technology and their advancements, efficiency,
and convenience take priority without taking into consideration
ethical implications. it is crucial to acknowledge that secular thinking
can face challenges when it becomes overly reductionist, neglecting
broader ethical dimensions and resulting in unintended
consequences (Jones, 2020) In the long run this can lead to
consequences that can be avoided. Secular thinking, characterized
by an emphasis on rationality and empirical evidence, is exemplified

by an emphasis on rationality and empirical evidence, is exemplified
in the scientific community's commitment to evidence-based
reasoning and rigorous methodologies (Smith, 2018). To wrap this up,
Christian and secular thinking just like anything in life has positives
negative sides. If you critically evaluate these ideas, you can
grate the two contributing to better understanding of Christian
and secular thinking.

grace can be. This behavior in my opinion shows strength it also
promotes healing, compromise, and shows in real time what Christian
virtues should look like.
On the other Christian thinking can be well done it can also be done
Open course index ly. When done poorly it can come across as rigid, legalistic, and
extremely judgmental. One example that I can think of is when
someone misuses scripture to fit their narrative. For example, Exodus
20:12 when it says honor your mother and father. I have seen
situations where parents use this verse in context of it does not
mat what I do you must honor what I say. But they completely skip
over Ephesians 6:4 do not provoke your child to anger. This kind of
thinking completely undermines the meaning of scripture. It also
neglects the fundamental teachings of love and acceptance. Giving
mislead understanding of the harmonious nature of the bible.
As we move into secular thinking, when secular thinking is well done.
It can be seen as commitment, evidence-based reasoning, exact

Hello, my classmates. I am not a born-again Christian, but I love and
adore my Christ-centered friends. It is challenging to self-observe our
worldviews, especially in a world that is discussed in abstractions. We
learn and grow by studying ourselves in specifics. Please feel free to
chime in if I miss the mark on the Christian worldview. Finally, I see
Christianity as the antidote to cultural Marxism that is contaminating
the ideas of our Judio-Christian founding ideals.
Discuss when the Christian way of thinking is done well.
Good Christian thinking is done well when it is based on clear
Christian ideals. Before we discuss Christian thinking, we have to

Christian ideals. Before we discuss Christian thinking, we have to
look at the origin of the Christian belief system. According to
Entwistle (2021), "To think Christianly is to accept all things with the
mind as related, directly or indirectly, to man's eternal destiny as the
redeemed and chosen child of God" (p. 14). I will make a personal
observation, and that is I find my Christian friends to be less angry
and happier than my left-of-center, sometimes hostile secular friends.
I believe this is because their thinking is influenced by the ideas of
Jesus Christ: Love, compassion, and forgiveness. Take, for example,
America's obsession with professional sports. Many Americans
worship in the "Church of Baseball" (Shelton, 1988). Christians have a
spiritual purpose beyond frivolous entertainment, so they attend
Church every Sunday to worship God. Christians' thinking is affected
by the clear choices they make in life because they are grounded ir.
Godly understanding of the world.
The Christian way of thinking is done poorly. "It could be this; it
could be that God willing" (The Talmud

As I was reading Entwistle's book, he sometimes professes left-of-
center ideas that are misguided in discussing a Christian worldview.
Since he is a Christin, I will point them out. His most egregious flawed
thinking revolves around Covid-19. The author who professes the
need for perspective, oddly has little on this subject. (maybe because
his book was published in 2021?) "He uses worn-out follow-the-
science argument. "Good Christian thinking needs to begin with a
Christian framework in dialog with rational, scientific, and other forms
of evidence" (Entwistle,2021, p. 15). While I agree with Entwistle about
the need for "rational, scientific, and other forms of evidence" there is
a lot that is unknown about the long-term effects of Coved 19 and the
vaccines mandated to constrain it. As we have discovered sometime
"science" is myriad in politics, false hypotheses and large sums of
money. Who is more superstitious those Christians who believe they
"are immune to the virus, that they can be healed by touching their

"are immune to the virus, that they can be healed by touching their
televisions, or that the winds of prophecy were blowing away the
virus" (Copeland, as cited by Entwistle, 2021, p. 15). Or those who
believed that if they took the vaccine, they would never get the
COVID-19 virus? Tompkins (2021) writes, "Researchers are trying to
figure out how 246 fully vaccinated Michiganders contracted the
coronavirus - including three who died - from January to March
2021" (para. 2). Entwistle himself makes a perfect example of
Christian thinking done poorly.
What type of secular thinking is done well?
Most people suffer from not knowing the difference between
imagination and intellect. We spend our lives controlled by old
thinking patterns; we can barely separate superstition from reality.
Secular thinking is best served when people operate from reason.
Two examples of secular thinking done well are mathematics and

How can secular thinking be done poorly? Provide examples.
One of the basic theories of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CPT) of
thinking done poorly is the idea of black-and-white thinking. This is
where a person sees the world in polarities and is unable to perceive
or discuss the gray areas of life. According to Entwistle (2021), "The
tendency to buy into a dichotomy between the sacred and the
seculars at the heart of seeing Jerusalem and Athens as mutually
exclusive categories" (p. 16). This is an excellent example of poor
secular thinking is blindly "following the science" and being hostile to
religious wisdom. A second example of secular thinking done poorl
is when negative emotions dominate our thinking. For example, when
we have a sense of shame, from feeling of being rejected or overly
worried about what others think of us our thinking can come frozen.
We are unable to think clearly because the mind is consumed with
