On the next page, click on the “Documents" tab found along the top of the page. You will now have access to a wide array of primary source documents to choose from. You are required to read and write about at least two documents per assignment but if you wish to read more documents to give you more to write about or do comparisons with you are more than welcome to do so. STEP TWO: After reading the documents, begin your analysis by identifying who, what, when, where, and why (as best as can be determined), not to mention the crucial “so what”. You can also use the textbook and class notes to help you get the historical context so you can start making connections between the documents and the larger historical period. What you are trying to establish in your analysis is the meaning and relevance of the documents and what it says about our past. STEP THREE: Following your preliminary analysis of the documents, you are ready to begin writing.
