Question

Z1 (1) DII Z2, d₂ (2) Water is kept in an open air storage tank at 20°C and discharged into the atmosphere through a long, straight section of circular pipe (192mm

diameter). A minimum discharge flow rate of 50L/s is required. At this flow rate, you estimate the system head loss to be 4.2m. What is the minimum elevation difference (m) between (1) and (2) that will deliver the required flow rate? Where necessary, make typical engineering assumptions for this type of problem. Assume a kinetic energy correction factor of 1.05 in the pipe. Give your answer to 2 decimal places.
