Question

A coconut is released from rest a height h above the ground (h is

unknown, but is less than 10 meters). After falling, the coconut impacts

the ground at speed v with a satisfying thud. The experiment is repeated

using a new release height that is 5 times greater than the original

release height. The coconut again hits the ground, but is going faster this

time. How many times faster? (You may ignore air drag when

answering this problem.)
