In this assignment, you will be researching a disease/illness linked to genetic mutation, and therefore, gene expression. You will also be investigating how different methods of genetic screening can help in

the prediction and diagnosis of your selected disease, as well as how gene therapy could potentially be used to treat your disease. When selecting your disease, you should select a disease that is developed at some point during a person's life, as opposed to a congenital disease (something that a person is born with). You should also not select a disease with a simple inheritance pattern (ie. sickle cell anemia). Choose a disease that has multiple genes interacting and is also influenced by lifestyle/environment. In other words, don't choose a disease that you are either guaranteed to have or not have.
