Your line manager has requested you to document the key roles and responsibilities of a business analyst (BA). In addition, you are required to research real world examples to further explain and discuss the role of a business analyst. The goal of this report, is to assist your line manager, in the next review of the current and future direction of the organisation's operations. The International Institute of Business Analysis, (2006, p9) defines a business analyst (BA) as: "A business analyst works as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and information systems. The business analyst understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals."
