WEEK 2 ASSIGNMENT: SOCIAL JUSTICE Discussion Board Questions: For this week's discussion, after reading the above articles, answer the following questions. Please use the attached articles 1. As presented in the Grace and Willis (2012) article, what is the relationship between nursing goals and social justice? How is the concept of distributive justice related to social justice? Explain Power and Faden's model of social justice, including the six dimensions of well-being in the model. Does the example of child abuse provided in the article assist in understanding the theory's application to nursing? 2. Ruin et al, (2021) provide a review of intersectionality theory. Explain this theory and how it evolved. (Section 3) How is this theory related to social justice? Provide an example of how this theory could be helpful to nursing practice. 3. What are the main tenets of the social ecological model? What challenges were identified by the researchers in their use of the model with the population being studied? How do their findings expand nurses' abilities to address health inequities? 4. Nursing has a rich history of leaders who promoted social justice and health equity. Please use the provided joumals for the assignment. 1. Explain in your own words, the differences among health equity, health equality, health disparity and health care disparity, as defined in Tobin-Tyler and Teitelbaum (2019). How is health justice related to these concepts? 2. How does Fawcett (2019) define social justice, as reflected in the article's discussion of the history of social justice? How does this concept of social justice relate to equity? What other points about the complexity of social justice does the author discuss? 3. Examine the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Choose a provision that relates to social justice, and summarize it. (Identify the provision in your response). Then identify the key points related to social justice, health justice and health disparities. 4. Reflect on the importance of these concepts to nursing.
